Head Coach - Greg Johnson
Greg Johnson is in his second year at the helm of the Marlins program. Greg moved to Roanoke from Chapel Hill, NC where he spent five years as the assistant senior coach of North Carolina Aquatic Club. He was born in Winston-Salem N.C., where he began his swimming career at age seven with the Winston-Salem YMCA. After graduation from North Forsyth High School as the 1997 North Carolina state high school champion in the 200-yard individual medley, he was accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point as a recruit for the men's swimming team. After only eight weeks, a knee injury precluded him from military service and he returned to Winston-Salem, N.C. The following year he was accepted to the University of North Carolina and he gained a spot as a member of the men's swimming team. Under Coach Randy Erlenbach, Johnson became a solid performer in the 100 and 200 butterfly events and the distance freestyle events. He finished his career at UNC in 2002 with a top eight performance in the 200-yard butterfly at the ACC Championships and a degree in journalism and mass communication. Upon graduation, he was invited by Erlenbach to join the staffs at UNC and North Carolina Aquatic Club, as the assistant senior coach. He has been fortunate to work with the finest college and age-group swimmers in the country, as well as living in beautiful Carrboro with his wife Samantha. As a coach, he has had the honor of working with several national qualifiers, ACC finalists. He has also coached multiple state champions and a 2008 Olympic Trial qualifier. In 2005, he accompanied a swimmer to National Select Camp in Colorado Springs. Greg and his wife Samantha have a Boxer named Mabel and Siamese cat names Cash. They enjoy camping, antiquing, and various home improvement projects.

CCA Marlins Coach Named Virginia Coach of the Year
 10/5/2009
Carter Center Aquatics (CCA) Marlins Coach Eva Steib has been named the 2009 Age-Group Coach of the Year by Virginia Swimming, Inc. Steib, who has been a CCA Marlins coach for 12 years and has more than 25 years of experience, received the honor at the Virginia Swimming Banquet on Sun., Oct. 4 in Richmond, VA. “This is such a tremendous honor for me,” said Steib who works primarily with the team’s 12-and-under swimmers. “It is always nice to be recognized by your fellow coaches.”
Each year, Virginia Swimming, the governing body of amateur swimming in Virginia and a portion of North Carolina, solicits nominations from the coaches from more than 50 member clubs for the award. The voting is cast by the coaches. About 6,000 athletes and 250 coaches participate in the Virginia Swimming organization.
During her tenure as a Marlins coach, she has developed several state and nationally ranked swimmers. Her attention to details and basic fundamentals produced a two-time Virginia state champion (Kyle Ewoldt) earlier this year. Steib’s 2008 team won the medium sized team division at the state championship meet in March. She also had two 10-and-under relays win state titles in July.

Assistant Coach - Louis Tudor
The 2009-2010 season will be Louis' second season with the Marlins, but he is no stranger to the pool deck, as a swimmer or coach. Louis grew up in Greensboro, NC where he began his swimming career with Greensboro Swimming Association. He was a state silver medalist in the 50 and 100 free by the time he graduated from high school and then went on to swim for UNC-Chapel Hill. Although he was a walk-on, he ended his career as a Tar Heel with two NCAA performances and a spot in the all-time top 10 performers list for the 50 free. Coach Louis has coached swimming for some time here in the valley, beginning at Virginia Gators coaching 8-and-unders and moving on to Roanoke Catholic High School. Louis brings a fresh, educational approach to swimming to our younger Marlins, which will be a sure foundation to a strong program. Louis has four children, two of which currently swim for the Marlins, and he is best known for his famous biscuits as the proprietor of Tudor's Biscuit World.
